Established in 1994, SPD is a Dehradun-based non-profit organization working at the intersection of community well-being, sustainable livelihoods and environmental conservation.
SPD began its journey with a strong commitment to biodiversity conservation and sustainable development in the Himalayan region. We recognized the close relationship between local communities and forests, particularly the dependence of rural and mountain communities on natural resources.
Over the years, our work has expanded into community health, health education, women's empowerment, livelihood development, drudgery reduction, natural resource management and sustainable development.
