SPD, established in 1994, is a Dehradun based non-profit organization
registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA)
[Reg. No. : 347900052] with Ministry of Home affairs, Government of India.
We started our operations with strong felt need of taking proactive steps for bio-diversity conservation. It was imperative for us to
work towards reducing the competitive interaction between the community and forests, keeping in mind the dependence of local communities
on forests for centuries for subsistence living. Existence of distorted and redundant traditions and a severe division of work and attitude
between male and female and complete absence of basic health services, especially for the rural women has made us to work in health sector
to increase the access of communities towards health services and improve their health seeking behaviour. Read more...
